Mangaluru – The Income Tax Sports and Recreation Club (ITSRC), Mangaluru, marked Income Tax Day with a series of meaningful events, including a blood donation camp and a cultural programme, held at the CR Building in Attavar.
The celebrations began on July 23 with a blood donation drive in association with A J Hospital. The camp catered to both serving and retired personnel of the Income Tax Department and their families. A full blood test screening was also conducted for donors.
The formal celebration took place on July 24, featuring Col G Somu Maharajan, director of the Army Recruiting Office, Mangaluru, as the chief guest, and Major Abhijeet Singh, recruitment medical officer, as the guest of honour.
In a heartfelt gesture, ten ex-servicemen currently employed in the department were honoured by Col Maharajan for their service to the nation and continued contributions to civil administration.
The official programme was followed by a colourful cultural showcase performed by members of the department, adding a festive touch to the day.
Among the prominent attendees were Ranga Rajan, commissioner of income tax (appeals); Shankar Ganesh, additional commissioner; Ramith, deputy commissioner; Suresh, ITSRC president and additional commissioner; and Chandramohan, ITSRC secretary and IT inspector, along with other senior officials.
The celebration underscored the department’s commitment to service, camaraderie, and social responsibility.
