Mangaluru, November 15, 2025: KMC Hospital Mangaluru hosted a Public Awareness Talk on World Diabetes Day on Saturday, 15th November 2025, at the Ground Floor, Tower 2. The event brought the community together to understand what diabetes is, why its prevalence is rising, and how early intervention can reduce serious long-term complications. With diabetes emerging as one of India’s major health concerns, the session highlighted the importance of timely and consistent care in preventing kidney issues, nerve damage, heart disease, and foot-related problems.The session witnessed the participation of a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including Dr. Shrinath P Shetty, Consultant – Endocrinology, who highlighted the importance of regular screenings to detect diabetes early; Dr. Basavaprabhu, Consultant – Internal Medicine, who discussed how stress and obesity contribute to rising blood sugar levels; Dr. K N Sanman, Consultant – Urology, who explained the increased risk of urinary infections in people with uncontrolled diabetes; and Dr. Priyatham Kamath, Consultant – Podiatric Surgery, who emphasised that daily foot care can prevent ulcers and serious complications.

Their collective insights reinforced the need for coordinated and proactive diabetic care.Throughout the session, the focus remained on empowering individuals with the knowledge needed to take charge of their health. The experts emphasized that diabetes management is not limited to medication it involves mindful nutrition, regular physical activity, foot care, timely consultations, and routine monitoring.
