Mangaluru: To mark World Diabetes Day, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, will host a Public Awareness Programme on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 3:30 PM onwards at the Ground Floor, Tower 2, KMC Hospital, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle.

The event aims to educate the public about the causes, risks, and prevention of diabetes — a disease that now affects not only older adults but also children and adolescents. High blood sugar levels can lead to serious complications including heart attacks, kidney failure, neuropathy, and vision loss.

Focus on awareness and prevention

The programme is open to all and will feature discussions by multispecialty medical experts on key topics such as:

  • The role of modern lifestyle, stress, and obesity in diabetes
  • The impact of junk foods and sugary drinks on blood sugar levels
  • The connection between high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, and urinary infections in diabetics

Attendees can also explore a diabetes-friendly food display that demonstrates practical dietary choices for better management of the condition.

Free registration for all participants

Registration is free but mandatory. Interested individuals may register by sending their name via WhatsApp to 9008167071. The programme will be especially useful for senior citizens, those with a sedentary lifestyle, and individuals with a family history of diabetes.

Commitment to community health
