Mangaluru: KMC Hospital Mangaluru has launched a special Men’s Day awareness initiative titled “Gentle Reminder: Protect Your Prostate”, encouraging men above 50 to take timely steps toward safeguarding their prostate health. As part of the programme, the hospital is offering free consultations with expert urologists from 17 to 28 November 2025, between 3 PM and 5 PM at its Dr B. R. Ambedkar Circle facility.

Initiative aims to promote early detection and awareness

Prostate-related conditions are common among ageing men, yet many avoid seeking medical advice due to hesitation, stigma or lack of awareness. Symptoms such as straining while passing urine, frequent night-time urges, incomplete emptying, blood in urine, or burning sensations accompanied by fever can signal underlying issues requiring prompt evaluation.
Through this initiative, KMC Hospital aims to ensure men understand the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate intervention.

Expert highlights importance of timely screening

Speaking about the initiative, Dr Sanman Gowda, HOD & Consultant – Urology, emphasised the need for men to seek timely medical care. He noted that prostate problems are widespread but often neglected due to misconceptions and delay in consultation.
“Early evaluation can prevent complications and significantly improve quality of life. Even mild symptoms should not be ignored, as early intervention makes a major difference,” he said.
The hospital has urged all men aged 50 and above to take advantage of the free screening opportunity.
