A man from Mangaluru, Raveen Prakash, has been arrested by the police for allegedly circulating counterfeit foreign currency in Bhatkal. The arrest was made following an investigation into suspicious activity reported on Bunder Road.

During the operation, police seized 17 fake currency notes — including denominations of 100, 500, and 1,000 UAE Dirhams — along with a car and a mobile phone from the accused. The fake notes appeared to be high-quality imitations, prompting further inquiry into their origin.

Prakash has been remanded to judicial custody for two days. Authorities confirmed that the arrest was made after initial questioning and evidence collection.

The investigation is ongoing as police suspect a wider network may be involved in the circulation of fake foreign currency in the region. Officials are now working to trace any potential accomplices or links to a larger counterfeiting operation.
