In light of growing uncertainty regarding the cancellation of the Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express, a proposal has emerged to extend the service to Mumbai rather than halt it.

Kota Srinivas Poojary, the MP from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and requested that the service be expanded to Mumbai instead of being terminated due to low passenger numbers.

The minister responded quickly, instructing officials to ensure the train’s continuation and to explore options for extending the route to Mumbai.

In addition, a comprehensive report highlighting the economic importance of Mangaluru and Udupi was presented to the minister, underscoring the necessity of extending the train service to Mumbai. The report also suggested that future plans include the introduction of a sleeper Vande Bharat train on the Mangaluru-Mumbai route.

MP Kota Srinivas Poojary expressed his appreciation to the minister for his swift action and commitment to supporting the proposal, welcoming the decision to extend the service. This move could be a significant boost to regional connectivity and economic growth in both districts.

By pushing for the extension, the local leadership hopes to secure better rail connectivity between two important cities and provide a more convenient travel option for passengers.
