Mangaluru: Reshel Bretny Fernandes, born on October 30, 2002, in Surathkal, is a young author, writer, thinker, researcher, and orator with notable achievements in international, national, and state literary events. The daughter of teachers Ronald and Nancy, she completed her schooling at DPS MRPL Mangaluru and earned a state 7th rank and district first rank in the arts stream at Ladyhill Victoria PU College. She holds BA degrees in Hindi from Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha and in general studies (history, economics, political science) from Sri Mahaveera College, Moodbidri. Reshel is currently pursuing an LLB at SDM Law College, Mangaluru.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to literature, Reshel was honored with the ‘Author of New Era Award’ by TAOI Authors of India, New Delhi. Her book Bharat at 2047: Role of Youth stands out as a pioneering work, being the first by a young author on such a significant topic in the 21st century. The award recognizes her ability to inspire new ideas among the younger generation, showcasing her dedication to national development.
Beyond her literary accomplishments, Reshel has pursued certificate courses in disaster management, human resource management, and public health, with a keen interest in public administration. She has authored 10 articles in international and national journals and actively volunteers with Disha Bharat and Samartha Bharata. She has participated in national-level webinars and youth parliaments.
Reshel has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Rabindranath Tagore Literature Award, Bharatiya Sahitya Sanman, and the Rabindranath Tagore Book Award by DRDC Global. She has also been recognized for her literary excellence with more than 150 awards in the field. Her essays on Bharat in Amritkaal, The Role of Youth, and Swami Vivekananda have garnered attention, and her two books published by Taneesha Publications have been highly successful.
Reshel’s remarkable achievements were also acknowledged with the International Kalam Award 2025 by Kalam Eduversity. At just 21 years old, she continues to inspire the youth through her writing and activism.
