Moodbidri: A 25-year-old man was found dead at his rented house in Nanil, under the Beluvai Gram Panchayat limits of Moodbidri taluk, on Friday morning. Police have registered a case and initiated further legal proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.

The deceased has been identified as Sayyid Anwar (25), son of Abusali Ismail and a native of Kajur in Belthangady taluk.

Family alerted after video call

According to preliminary information, Anwar was speaking to his elder sister through a video call shortly before the incident.

During the conversation, he allegedly expressed distress and made statements that caused concern to his family members. Worried relatives immediately rushed to the rented house where he had been staying.

When they arrived, they found him unresponsive. Authorities were informed, and the matter was taken up by the police.

Domestic disputes and unemployment

Police sources said Anwar had been living in a rented house in Beluvai with his wife and their two-year-old son for some time.

It is learnt that the couple had been experiencing frequent marital disputes, and that Anwar had earlier approached the police regarding the matter.

Anwar was employed as a driver of a fish transport vehicle but had reportedly been unemployed for some time. He had recently returned from Bengaluru.

According to local sources, another argument reportedly took place between the couple on Thursday, following which his wife returned to her parental home with their young son.

Police begin investigation

The Moodbidri police visited the scene after receiving information about the incident and completed the preliminary inquiry.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the death.

Police said all legal formalities are being carried out, and statements from family members and others connected to the case are expected to form part of the investigation.

Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation while the inquiry is in progress.

The incident has left family members and residents of the locality in shock. Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
