MRPL appoints Shri Pattathil Sujith as Executive Director (Projects)

Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has appointed Shri Pattathil Sujith as Executive Director (Projects).

Prior to his elevation, Shri Pattathil Sujith was serving as Group General Manager – Corporate Strategy, where he played a significant role in driving strategic initiatives, business planning, and long-term growth strategies for the company.

A native of Palakkad in Kerala, Shri Pattathil Sujith is a Mechanical Engineer with more than three decades of industry experience.

Over three decades of experience at MRPL

Shri Pattathil Sujith joined MRPL in 1993 and has since gained extensive experience across multiple functions including Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering and Inspection, Projects, and Corporate Strategy.

During his long tenure with the company, he played an important role in the commissioning of MRPL’s refinery Phase I, II, and III units.

He also contributed significantly towards the establishment of the Asset Integrity Management System for the refinery’s Phase III complex and was actively involved in the execution of MRPL’s BS-VI project.

Officials stated that his wide-ranging technical expertise and strategic understanding of refinery operations have contributed to several major initiatives undertaken by the company over the years.

To lead major expansion and infrastructure projects

As Executive Director (Projects), Shri Pattathil Sujith will lead the planning, execution, and commissioning of major capital projects and infrastructure initiatives critical to MRPL’s expansion and modernisation plans.

He will also play a key role in advancing the company’s long-term strategic diversification and energy transition initiatives.

The appointment comes at a time when MRPL is focusing on strengthening operational efficiency, expanding downstream infrastructure, and supporting sustainable growth aligned with evolving energy sector requirements.

Company officials expressed confidence that Shri Pattathil Sujith’s extensive technical and strategic experience will contribute significantly towards MRPL’s future growth and project execution capabilities.
