English daily News Trail has officially launched its Mangaluru edition, marking a significant step in expanding its presence across coastal and Malenadu regions of Karnataka.
The launch ceremony was held at The Ocean Pearl on Friday, drawing prominent dignitaries, community leaders and members of the media fraternity.
News Trail is already published from Bengaluru, Qatar and Hubballi. With the introduction of its Mangaluru edition, the publication aims to provide focused coverage of issues, developments and community narratives from coastal Karnataka and the Malenadu belt.
Dignitaries grace the launch
The event witnessed the presence of several notable personalities, including Dr U.T. Ifthikar Fareed, Chairman of the Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council; Ivan D’Souza, MLC; Fr Sudeep Paul, Director of Sandesha Foundation; and Sister Vishweshwari of Brahmakumari International Centre, Mangaluru.
Also in attendance were M.A. Gafoor, Chairman of the Coastal Development Board; T.M. Shahid Thekkil, Chairman of the Minimum Wage Advisory Board; Adoor Ibrahim, former Deputy Commissioner of Mangaluru; S.M. Arshad, Managing Director of Mohtisham Complexes Pvt. Ltd.; and S.M. Rasheed Haji, President of the Bearys Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Focus on regional engagement
Representing the publication were K.M. Siddique, Director, News Trail; Ashraf Ali Basheer Ahmed, Associate Director; M.A. Siraj, Associate Editor; and Aftab H. Kola, Regional Business Head for the Mangaluru edition.
Speakers highlighted the importance of responsible journalism and the growing need for credible English-language reporting tailored to the region. The new edition is expected to strengthen community engagement and offer balanced coverage of socio-economic, educational and cultural developments across the coastal districts.
