Subrahmanya (Dakshina Kannada) — From August 15, the Mahatobhara Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple will enforce a total ban on plastic use in and around its premises, in line with a state government directive.

The temple management announced that the production, storage, distribution, sale, and use of single-use plastic products will be strictly prohibited in all temples under the Religious Endowments Department.

This includes a ban on plastic water bottles and disposable plastic items in shops and commercial complexes in the temple area. Violators will face penalties under the State Environment Pollution Control Board rules, and repeated offences could lead to shop eviction.

Temple Management Committee President Harish S. Injadi and Executive Officer Aravind Ayyappa Sutagundi confirmed that notices have been issued to all shopkeepers within the temple and Panchayat jurisdiction to ensure compliance.

The move aims to protect the environment and maintain the sanctity of the temple surroundings.
