Dakshina Kannada – Moodbidri police have detained a 60-year-old man after a video showing him allegedly misbehaving with a young woman on a private bus went viral on social media. Authorities are now appealing for the victim or any other women harassed by the suspect to lodge a formal complaint.

Inspector Sandesh P.G. confirmed that the accused has been identified as Rehman, a vegetable vendor from Anekere in Karkala, residing in Kukkadelu, Kariyanangadi, Beluvai.

In the viral clip, the woman’s face is not visible, making it difficult for police to trace her identity. During questioning, Rehman reportedly claimed he did not know the victim. The police have urged her—or anyone else with a similar experience involving the accused—to approach the Moodbidri police station directly so that legal action can proceed.

Investigations suggest that the accused, known locally as “Ajekar,” has a history of inappropriate behavior toward women while working in and around Anekere. Past allegations point to repeated harassment incidents, though many appear to have gone unreported.

The police have stressed that coming forward will help ensure justice and prevent further incidents.
