Puttur: BJP Dakshina Kannada District President Satish Kumpala has addressed the controversy surrounding a woman allegedly misled with a false promise of marriage by Jagannivas, a BJP local leader from Puttur.

In a clear response, Puttur BJP Mandal President has formally served a notice to Jagannivas, demanding accountability. “He had promised to marry the girl. It is unethical to backtrack now. He has been advised to fulfill his commitment,” Kumpala stated.

On accusations that the BJP remained silent following the incident, Kumpala clarified, “This is not a political issue, but a deeply personal one concerning a girl’s future. The BJP has treated it as a family matter, respecting the sensitivity of the situation.” He emphasized that public statements were withheld out of concern for the woman’s dignity and well-being.

However, he assured that the party is actively involved. “The party board has now issued a formal notice. We are awaiting a response. If the promise is not honored, disciplinary action will be taken against the individual,” he said.

Kumpala stressed that the BJP stands for justice and that the young woman deserves a fair resolution. The party intends to ensure she is not wronged.
