In a commendable display of compassion, staff of a private bus operated by Mercy Travels came to the aid of a woman who collapsed due to illness during a journey on September 2. The incident occurred near Natekal Kanachur Hospital.
The woman boarded the bus at Mudipu, traveling from Vittal to Mangaluru. Upon reaching Mudipu, she remained seated, which raised concern. Conductor Yakub, noticing she hadn’t disembarked, went to check on her. A fellow passenger informed him that the woman had collapsed due to sudden illness.
Acting swiftly, Yakub and the bus driver, Savad, decided to drive directly to the nearest hospital. They covered a distance of 10 kilometers to reach Kanachur Hospital in Natekal, where they immediately admitted her to the emergency ward. The entire rescue was captured on the hospital’s CCTV, highlighting their quick response.
The bus staff later reported that the woman is recovering well, thanks to their timely action. This incident follows two similar acts of humanity in Mangaluru city recently and another in Udupi a week earlier, showcasing a growing trend of kindness and promptness among local transport workers.
The selfless actions of Yakub and Savad have been widely appreciated by the community, setting a positive example for others.
