Kadaba: A powerful storm that swept through Savanoor and nearby regions of Kadaba taluk early Tuesday morning around 5 am caused extensive damage, with estimated losses running into several lakhs of rupees.
In the MESCOM sub-division limits of Savanoor, areas such as Kedenji, Areltadi, Kudmanamajalu Patte Madake, and Anyadi in Kudmaru village were among the worst affected. The storm uprooted trees and damaged electricity poles, plunging several localities into power outages.
Severe damage was also reported in Areltadi Koragajja Katte and the temple premises, where strong winds battered houses, arecanut and coconut plantations, and other properties.
Local officials have begun assessing the full extent of the damage, but initial reports suggest the financial impact is in lakhs, leaving many residents grappling with heavy losses.
