A major tragedy was narrowly averted after a speeding motorcycle rammed into an electric pole in Mangaluru, snapping it completely. The two students riding the bike miraculously escaped without major injuries.

According to CCTV footage, the riders were travelling at high speed when they suddenly lost control. The motorcycle veered off course and crashed into the pole with such force that it broke on impact. Both students were thrown off the vehicle but survived with minor injuries.

Locals rush to help

A passerby immediately stopped at the scene and alerted local residents. Within minutes, people gathered and provided initial assistance to the injured students. They were later shifted to a nearby hospital for further examination and treatment.

Authorities are expected to examine the CCTV footage and assess whether overspeeding or negligence was the primary cause of the incident.

Series of recent accidents raise concern

The incident comes just days after a fatal accident near Mangaluru in which a Tata Indica carrying five passengers collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus.

Police sources stated that the car, allegedly travelling at high speed, hit a divider, crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into the bus. Four passengers, aged between 17 and 22, died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries later at the hospital.

The recent spate of accidents has once again highlighted concerns over reckless driving and the urgent need for stricter road safety measures in the region.
