Mangaluru: Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, under A Shama Rao Foundation, entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dakshina Kannada Nirmiti Kendra on April 23 to promote skill enhancement and innovation in construction technology. The signing took place at the college seminar hall.

The partnership aims to bridge academic learning with practical industry knowledge, offering students exposure to both creative and hands-on approaches in construction.

Presiding over the event, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor of Srinivas University, called the MoU a valuable milestone. “It will drive innovation and help students distinguish themselves in their careers,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, Mullai Muhilan M P, IAS, who was the chief guest, lauded the initiative. He recalled the transformation of the old DC office by student teams and urged them to build iconic structures that speak for themselves.

Rajendra Kalbavi, Project Director of Nirmiti Kendra, emphasized that the collaboration—originating from a training program—had evolved into a formal pact, and encouraged students to aim for impactful roles like the IAS.

Dr A Srinivas Rao, Pro-Chancellor, expressed hope that the partnership would make Mangaluru a destination for architectural tourism, much like China.

A book titled “From Shrines to Skylines: Nepal Through Our Eyes”—a student travelogue—was also launched during the event.

The program featured addresses by Principal Dr Srinivas Mayya D, Architect Vasudeva N Shet, Assistant Professor Leslie J Dais, and Architect Kumarachandra M R.
