Mangaluru – The Dakshina Kannada police have apprehended three men who had been evading court appearances in separate criminal cases for years.
Nine warrants ignored
In a 2023 theft case under Section 379 of the IPC, registered at Puttur Town Police Station, accused Shivakumar alias Shivu from Savanur skipped court hearings despite nine warrants being issued. Acting on a tip-off, a special Uppinangady police team, led by Puttur Sub-Division DySP Arun Nagegowdar and Puttur Town Inspector Kiran Johnson D’Souza, arrested him in Abbigere, Bengaluru.
Three years on the run
In another case, Syed Kaleem alias Kallu Mamu, wanted in a 2022 robbery case under Section 394 of IPC at Uppinangady Police Station, had been absconding for three years. A resident of Jagajeevan Ram Nagar, Bengaluru, he also faces four other cases in the city. He was caught by a team led by PSI Kaushik, under the guidance of DySP Nagegowdar and Uppinangady Circle Inspector Ravi B.S.
Kadaba arrest
Kadaba Police on Tuesday detained Yousuf (32), wanted for over three years in a case under Sections 341, 323, 324, 504, 506 read with Section 34 of IPC. Following his arrest, he was produced in court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
