Mangaluru: In a swift operation, Ullal police arrested two individuals for allegedly selling MDMA, a banned narcotic substance, in Talapady village. The arrests were made at Tachchani Ground, a location reportedly used for drug dealings, following a tip-off received by the police.

Arrest of accused and seizure of drugs

The arrested have been identified as Fazal Hussain (33) and Naushad (32). Acting on the information, Ullal police conducted a raid and apprehended the duo before any transaction could take place.

From their possession, authorities recovered 15 grams of MDMA, a portable digital weighing machine, two mobile phones, and other items valued collectively at ₹95,500. Police sources believe the seized equipment was being used to measure and package the drug for distribution.

Legal proceedings and further probe

A case has been registered at Ullal police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigators are now tracing the source of the MDMA and whether the accused were part of a larger supply network operating in and around Mangaluru.

Drug menace in coastal Karnataka

This latest arrest underscores the growing issue of synthetic drug circulation in the coastal belt of Karnataka. Police have been intensifying operations to curb the menace, especially targeting hotspots where youth gatherings are frequent.

Authorities have urged citizens to report suspicious activities and assured that strict legal measures will continue against those involved in drug trade.

Conclusion

With the arrest of Fazal Hussain and Naushad, Ullal police have thwarted another attempt to distribute synthetic drugs in the region. Investigations are ongoing to identify and dismantle the wider network behind the illegal trade.
