In a major anti-narcotics operation, Bengaluru police arrested seven people — including three foreign nationals — and seized MDMA valued at more than ₹5.5 crore. The crackdown involved three separate cases across the city.
In the first case, Electronics City police nabbed Joel Kabong (28), an MBA dropout from the Democratic Republic of Congo, along with his associate Joy Sunday (22), a BA graduate. Kabong, who arrived in Bengaluru on a student visa in 2013 and overstayed, was found selling MDMA to customers, including college students. Based on his interrogation, police arrested Joy near Doddathoguru Cross and recovered MDMA crystals worth ₹5 crore. Joy, residing in Vidyaranyapura, admitted to supplying drugs sourced from another foreigner, who is currently being traced.
In the second case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested another African national who entered Delhi in 2024, set up a clothing business, and later moved to Bengaluru after the venture collapsed. He allegedly turned to drug peddling, purchasing MDMA at low rates and reselling in the city. Police seized 255 grams of MDMA worth ₹40 lakh from him.
The third case, handled by Sampigehalli and Yelahanka police, led to the arrest of four local peddlers. Officers recovered 147 grams of MDMA worth ₹18.40 lakh.
Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh confirmed that a special team is tracking the supply chain. “We are following all leads and urge citizens, especially educational institutions, to report drug activity. Informants’ identities will remain confidential,” he assured.
