Mangaluru – Relentless downpours swept through Ullal on Wednesday, submerging several homes and forcing residents to flee for safety. The heavy rains caused flash flooding across multiple low-lying areas, catching many off guard.

Among the impacted was 55-year-old Rafeeq, a resident of Millathnagar. As rising water levels flooded his home, Rafeeq scrambled to salvage his household items and began shifting them to a relative’s place nearby.

Tragically, shortly after stepping out of the waterlogged house, Rafeeq experienced a sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed on the spot. Despite immediate efforts by neighbors to transport him to the hospital, he passed away before receiving medical attention.

Rafeeq is survived by his wife, one son, and four daughters. His untimely death has shocked the local community, who remember him as a hardworking family man.

The incident underscores the growing dangers posed by extreme weather events in the region. With rainfall showing no signs of easing, local authorities have urged the public to remain cautious, avoid flooded zones, and prioritize safety during emergencies.

Disaster response teams remain on alert, and residents are being advised to seek shelter in safe locations if water levels continue to rise.

As monsoon conditions intensify, officials stress the need for preparedness to avoid similar tragedies.
