Mysuru: The discovery of a drug manufacturing unit in the city has sparked a major political storm, with BJP leaders alleging government interference and shielding of influential figures.

Speaking to reporters, BJP Backward Classes State President Raghu Kautilya said that Mysuru, once hailed as the “City of Dasara,” is now gaining notoriety as a “drug hub.” He pointed out that it was the Maharashtra police who conducted the raid, raising doubts about why local law enforcement was unaware.

Kautilya alleged that the hands of Mysuru police are tied due to political pressure, and claimed that “the involvement of powerful people cannot be ruled out.”

He also criticized the state government, recalling recent controversies such as the MUDA case, and said that scams and illegal activities have tarnished Mysuru’s image. “This is the Chief Minister’s home district, and the in-charge minister too is from here, yet such lapses are happening,” he said.

The BJP leader further condemned the handling of Inspector Laxmikant Talwar’s suspension, which was withdrawn within 24 hours, calling it a clear sign of “pressure from higher-ups.”

Kautilya demanded that the case be immediately handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for an impartial probe. “If the state government fails to act, we will approach the Governor and seek his intervention,” he warned.
