Following the discovery of an MDMA manufacturing unit in Unnati Nagar, Mysuru, by Maharashtra Police, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar has issued a stern warning: repeat drug peddlers will be externed from the city.
The anti-drug drive, now in its third day, has intensified as city police scan for more possible drug labs operating covertly in Mysuru. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Latkar confirmed the arrest of six individuals in the recent crackdown.
“We’ve tested over 100 people and found that 60 had consumed ganja. We’ve filed cases against them under relevant sections,” she added.
However, Commissioner Latkar declined to comment on the Mumbai Police’s claim that the busted unit in Mysuru contained MDMA worth ₹390 crore, stating the matter falls under another jurisdiction.
The crackdown aligns with a wider effort by Mysuru Police, including initiatives like ‘Mane Manege Police’, which aims to increase community engagement and surveillance at the neighborhood level.
Latkar’s announcement sends a strong message that Mysuru is tightening the noose on drug networks, particularly after the city emerged as a surprising hotspot in a major inter-state drug bust.
