Mangalore : Several students of various colleges in Mangalore organised a candle light vigil in front of the DC office in Mangalore on October 18, Friday  as a mark of respect to the departed soul of Sowjanya, on the occasion of her 18th birthday. The programme organised by the All College Students Association also demanded a CBI probe into the Sowjanya rape and murder case.

Association President Dinaker Shetty who spoke on the occasion   said the government had till date not fulfilled the  demand put forth by the Association to  offer a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs to the bereaved family of Sowjanya. He said the students of Mangalore will continue their fight for justice for Sowjanya and to demand a CBI probe into the case.

He at the same time was critical of some people who pointed fingers towards the Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari family  in connection with  the murder.
