Dubai: UAE’s new season of Throw ball Men’s and Ladies tournament saw a day of sportive spirit and a series of enthralling battles between teams here, today. In a thrilling and electrifying Finish Bunts Dubai Men’s and Ladies teams were crowned the winners.
While the Bunts Dubai Ladies Throwball team beat KCO Abu Dhabi, the Men’s Throwball final saw the Bunts Dubai winner over the Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi team and walked away with the 4th ISC-Arab Udupi Throwball trophies.
All the league matches were played in a sporting spirit while referees Jacintha Rasqinha, Cynthia D’cunha, Satish Shetty, Vivek Serrao and Shiva Shetty did a commendable job by conducting all the matches without any obstacles.
The proceedings began with a brief inaugural session attended by Main Sponsor of the Tournament, Arab Udupi Group of Restaurants MD Shekar Shetty, ISC President Ramesh Panikker, UAE Exchange President Sudhir Shetty, KCO President Leo Rodrigues, ISC Sports Secretary George, Asst. Secretary Mohd. Younus, sponsors Hilda D’souza of Trionix IT Solutions, M. Jayaram Rai of Bin Fardan Group, Sundar Shetty of Nihal Hotel and witnessed by 200 plus players and spectators.
Main Convener of the tournament and a veteran in the field guiding and managing throwball tournaments for the last 25 plus years, Sarvotham Shetty invited the team captains for the lots and explained the rules and regulations of the league matches. With the support of ISC Sports Secretary George, Asst. Secretary Mohd. Yunus and ISC members and staff, he conducted the proceedings of the tournament in a wonderful way throughout the day and was appreciated by all the participated teams.
Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, K.C.O. Abu Dhabi, Mangalore Konkans Dubai, Konkans Dubai, Mogaveers U.A.E, Coastal Friends UAE and Bunts Dubai were the teams participated in the whole day’s thrilling tournament on the roof top of Abu Dhabi’s India Social and Cultural Centre.
The first match of the day was played between KCO Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha ladies teams. The match was inaugurated by ISC Hon. President Ramesh Panniker, Sports Secretary George and Shekar Shetty.
All the teams played the games in good sportsman spirit. In the concluding ceremony ISC Sports Secretary George thanked all the sponsors of the event and all the participants. The referees were honored for their dedicated service throughout the day.
