Emirates Putturians celebrate their annual day with gaiety

Dubai: The annual get-together of Emirates Putturians was held on Friday November 7th at Rocky’s Club, Regent Palace Hotel, Karama, Dubai.

The event started with a prayer by Uttam at 11:30 am.  Over 200 people from Al Ain, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other places enjoyed the event..

Alex Gonsalves, president of the Association welcomed the gathering, Gilbert Mascarenhas accompanied by Amanda Gonsalves took charge of registration of participants.

The programme had an added charm with foot-tapping numbers by local band “SEQUELS” comprising Joyson, Wilson,Lovelyn, Jeevan, Roshan,  Melwyn, Franklin and the lady Gaga of Konkani Nisha Sequeira.

Songs from Joseph mathias, Lancy Madtha, Meena, Milton, Deena and Nigel added flavour to the event.

The dance performances by the Party Spinners group, led by Nixon added a special essence that won the hearts of the audience. Inhouse DJ Rony with his fusion of songs made the crowd get off their seats and scorch the dance floor.

Ajit Coelho, vice-president, felicitated the  sponsors Michael D’Souza, Shailesh Parekh, Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Trading Simon D’Mello, Peter Pais and family, Joseph Mathias  Lancy Madtha  James Mendonca, Al Faris Group, Victor Fernandes, Oswald Madtha, Ashok Dias, Lancy Serrao and  Melita Serrao, Anil Navil D’Souza, and ended with a special note of thanks to Oswald Lobo, the representative at Puttur.

The kids dance performance by Shina, Stacy, Elvis, Joyson, and Auralia  also enthused the crowd.

The novelty ‘POM POM’ was of utmost interest among the audience who bought them in large numbers, making them eligible for the novelty draw which was coordinated by Antony,  Gilbert and Arleen

The leftover bandannas were bought in auction by Simon De Mello, who in turn was the luckiest person of the day bagging most of the novelty gifts.

Antony thanked the outgoing President Alex Gonsalves for his wonderful leadership over the past seven years and introduced Ajith Coelho, the in-coming president. Alex in his words of gratitude recalled everyone who supported him in all these years. Ajit assured everyone, that he would make every effort to take the association to the heights.

The winners received free visit visas, rice cookers, blenders, ironing boxes, gift hampers , Desert Safari vouchers, Dhow Cruise vouchers, dinner vouchers for a couple from Ramee Group of Hotels, etc as their prizes.

The delicious food at the venue together with the traditional Mangalorean dukra maas and sanna’s from Canara Restaurant were enjoyed by the gathering.

It was truly a day to cherish for every Putturian who attended the event. The eventful and fun filled day concluded at 5.30 pm with an energetic baila by the SEQUELS band.
