IFF offers condolences to bereaved in Mina Stampede

Mecca: Indian Fraternity Forum, (IFF) Karnataka chapter, western region, condoled the deaths of pilgrims in a stampede at Mecca during the annual hajj pilgrimage. IFF Karnataka chapter western Region President Abdul Majeed, said  in an official press release statement, “we pray for eternal peace of the departed souls and commiserate with the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery for the injured”.

At least 700 people were killed and hundreds injured in a crush outside the holy city of Mecca during the annual hajj pilgrimage, according to authorities in Saudi Arabia. The crush happened in Mina, a large valley about three miles from Mecca. Mina houses more than 160,000 tents where worshippers spend the night during the pilgrimage, the press release said.

IFF volunteer dies at Makkah Stampede:
An IFF volunteer Niyazul Haq died during the stampede at Makkah. He had been with IFF since last 3 years and was a longtime volunteer working with the IFF hajj volunteer team for Mina service and died during stamped today, while engaging in the Hajj volunteer work he loved.” “We regret to inform you and share with the family of Niyazul Haq our deepest condolences for his passing, we pray to Allah for his magfirath,” Majeed said in an official statement. He is from Jharkhand, North India and has been working with Hanwah Contracting Company as a civil Engineer.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign affairs of India, 14 Indians lost their lives and 13 were injured in the stampede.
