MCBC Dubai lifts Spearhead Premier League Cricket Trophy

Abu Dhabi: A fine cocktail of experience and youth delivered MCBC Dubai one more victory in the current season of the cricket tournament. They beat equally experienced and challenging Eagles Abu Dhabi in a exiting thriller finals of the Spearhead Premier League 2016 held at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council Grounds on April 15, 2016 organised by Spearhead Auh Mangaloreans. The tournament witnessed some of the best cricketing action with Sixes and Fours raining at all corners of the ground and class performance by some of the top cricketers in hard tennis ball format.

The tournament began with the inauguration match between Maria Cricketers Dubai and Eagles Abu Dhabi. Eagles over powered Maria cricketers to march towards Semi’s. At another match played between Mangalore Lions and DXB Stickers, Mangalore Lions beat DXB Strikers to reach Semi’s. In a match between DMC Dubai and GMC Dubai, GMC excelled to Semi’s and in the last league match MCBC humbled Spearhead Auh Mangalorens to be at the Semi’s.

Eagles Abu Dhabi then beat GMC Dubai and MCBC Dubai beat Mangalore Lions to find their place in the finals. GMC Dubai and Mangalore Lions fought for the third place where GMC Dubai won the match. The thrilling final was played between Eagles Abu Dhabi and MCBC Dubai. The high scoring match seemed to be in the side of Eagles Abu Dhabi but fantastic all round performance by the MCBC players helped them win the first season of the Spearhead Premier League 2016 and were crowned champions.

A brief presentation ceremony was followed. Spearhead Auh Mangaloreans Team head Derick Pinto thanked all the sponsors and well-wishers for their support for the success of the tournament. Teril Crasta honoured the sponsors Leo Rodrigues, Micheal DSilva and John Crasta with the Mementos. Leo Rodrigues in his speech congratulated all the winning and participating teams for their support.

Abu Dhabi Mangalorean’s is a team of young and enthusiastic cricket loving mangalorean catholic friends. With a sole intention of just playing cricket and to participate in various tournaments, they formed a team in 2013 and started playing in regular tournaments happening in Dubai and Abu Dhabi funding on their own and have won many tournaments till date including the USWAS Trophy. In 2014, Spearhead Middle East FZE sponsored the team and since then they are playing in the name of Spearhead Auh Mangaloreans. Spearhead Premier League 2016 is the first tournament organized by them.
