
Pedestrian Fatally Struck by KSRTC Bus in Uppinangady
A tragic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian, identified as KM Mathai, in the Uppinangady police station jurisdiction on Monday. The incident occurred as Mathai was attempting to cross the road at Shiradi when a KSRTC bus, reportedly traveling from the Mangaluru direction, hit him.
In a formal complaint, Mathai’s son alleged that the bus driver was responsible for the collision. The impact caused Mathai to fall onto the road, sustaining critical injuries. Eyewitnesses and bystanders promptly administered first aid before rushing him to a local hospital.
Medical professionals at the facility recommended transferring Mathai to a more advanced hospital for specialized care. Following their advice, he was transported to the district Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Mathai succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
Authorities at the Uppinangady police station have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. The mishap has brought renewed focus to pedestrian safety and responsible driving on busy highways.
