BJP Vows to End Religion-Based Reservations in Telangana

Hyderabad: In its election manifesto, the BJP promised to eliminate religion-based reservations, lower the VAT on gasoline and diesel, and form a committee to draft a Uniform Civil Code. The Telangana Assembly elections are set for November 30.

The party has pledged to name Telangana’s first Chief Minister from the Backward Classes if it wins an election. A commission of inquiry led by a retired Supreme Court judge will also be appointed to look into all of the corruption claims made against the current BRS government.

If the BJP is elected to power, it will offer senior citizens free Ram Mandir and Kashi Yatra. Additionally, it committed to designating September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day.

Other major pledges in the manifesto include replacing the outdated Dharani system with the reliable Mee-Bhoomi system, creating a new nodal ministry for the implementation and saturation of government of India schemes, creating a new nodal department or ministry for Telangana’s overseas residents, particularly those living in the Gulf, and expediting the SC sub-categorization in reservations.

Mana Modi Guarantee, Mana BJP Bharosa is the name of the manifesto that Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled.

The saffron party pledged to increase reservations for OBCs, SCs, and STs and do away with “unconstitutional” religion-based reservations.

Currently, the state grants 4% of jobs in government and education to Muslims who belong to the underprivileged sections of the population.

IThe BJP promised Rs 2,500 as input assistance to small and marginal farmers. A first-of-its kind Nizamabad Turmeric City will be developed leveraging on the Prime Minister’s announcement on the formation of a National Turmeric Board.

College-going girl students will be provided free laptops, as per the manifesto. Also, the government will make a fixed deposit at the time of birth of a new-born girl child so that Rs 2 lakh can be redeemed at the age of 21.

Ujjwala beneficiaries will be provided four free gas cylinders. Women self-help groups will be provided loans at a nominal interest rate of 1 per cent, the manifesto said.

The BJP also promised that it will complete the entire TSPSC recruitment process in the lines of UPSC for all government recruitment, including Group-I and Group-2, in a transparent and time-bound manner of six months.
