A training aircraft crash-landed near Baramati Airport in Pune district on Saturday, police confirmed, assuring that no injuries occurred in the incident.
According to preliminary details, the aircraft, used for pilot training exercises, experienced difficulties during its descent and landing phase. The pilot managed to bring the plane down safely despite the emergency situation, avoiding harm to both the crew and people on the ground.
Officials stated that the aircraft came to rest just outside the runway area. Emergency response teams, including airport ground staff and local police, arrived promptly, securing the site and ensuring there was no secondary risk such as fuel leakage or fire. The aircraft sustained limited damage, while airport infrastructure remained unaffected.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the mishap. Authorities are examining potential technical malfunctions, weather conditions, and operational procedures that may have contributed to the crash-landing.
Baramati Airport, located in Pune district, is widely used for aviation training and small aircraft operations. Officials emphasised that all safety protocols were activated immediately, helping to prevent what could have been a more serious accident.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been notified, and its team is expected to conduct a detailed inspection. Normal airport activities resumed shortly after the incident, with no disruption to scheduled operations.
