Sullia— In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, a 48-year-old man lost his life due to suspected electrocution in Kodiyala village, located in Sullia taluk. The deceased has been identified as K Divakara.

As per the complaint filed by his elder brother, K Thyagaraj, Divakara had stepped out of the house early that morning. Around 7:00 am, while Thyagaraj was walking along a road passing through their farmland, nearly 100 meters from their residence, he spotted a snapped electric cable lying across the path.

Shortly after, he came upon Divakara, who was lying unresponsive on the ground, believed to have accidentally touched the live wire. Thyagaraj immediately alerted Vasanth M, a lineman from MESCOM, the electricity supply company.

MESCOM officials acted swiftly, cutting off power to the affected area to prevent further danger. Upon closer inspection, it was suspected that Divakara had already succumbed to electric shock before help could arrive.

The incident has been officially reported to the Bellare Police Station, where a case has been registered for further investigation. Authorities are expected to determine whether negligence or other factors played a role in the fatal mishap.

This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the hazards posed by exposed electrical lines, especially during monsoon months when infrastructure is prone to damage.
