KOLLAM: In a deeply disturbing incident, senior advocate P. Srinivasa Pillai (79) and his son Vishnu S. Pillai (42) were found dead at their residence in Akshaya Nagar 29, Kadappakada, on Saturday. Police believe that the father died by suicide after allegedly taking his son’s life.

The bodies were discovered after repeated phone calls from Rama, Srinivasa’s wife and mother of Vishnu, went unanswered for days. Rama, who lives in Thiruvananthapuram with their daughter Vidya, grew concerned. She, along with Vidya and her husband, reached the Kollam residence and found the house doors ajar. Looking through a window, they spotted Srinivasa Pillai unresponsive. Authorities were alerted immediately.

Upon forced entry, police found Vishnu lifeless in the bedroom with a head injury. A blood-stained weapon was recovered nearby. Preliminary findings suggest the incident occurred after Friday afternoon. The bodies were shifted to Parippally Medical College under the supervision of Kollam East CI Anilkumar.

Vishnu, a well-educated M.Tech graduate and MBA holder, once worked as a probation officer at SBI. He later left his job to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Despite setting up boards for various projects over the years, none materialized.

According to locals, disputes over money had become frequent between the father and son. Neighbours reported that Srinivasa Pillai often provided financial support to Vishnu whenever asked.

Investigators are examining whether prolonged financial and personal pressures may have played a role in the tragic outcome.
