Bengaluru: In a heartwarming display of community support, residents from nearly 30 apartment complexes came together to provide essential medical care to neighbourhood workers, including domestic helps, security personnel, gardeners, electricians and plumbers.

Ten free surgeries through hospital collaboration

In collaboration with Manipal Hospital on Kanakapura Road, the residents facilitated 10 free surgeries for workers who often cannot afford advanced medical treatment. The initiative was coordinated by multiple residential communities under the banner of Chain Makers of Kanakapura Road (CMKR), a federation of 150 associations.

Apartment complexes such as Prestige Falcon City, Sobha Forest View and Mantri Serenity actively participated, nominating individuals in need of surgical intervention.

Eight-year-old Subash receives life-changing surgery

Among the beneficiaries was eight-year-old Subash, a student of Government School, Kaggalipura, who suffers from tracheoesophageal fistula, a rare congenital condition in which the windpipe and food pipe are abnormally connected. His family, unable to bear the cost of surgery, received support through CMKR, making the procedure possible.

Commitment to community welfare

A representative of the organising committee said, “Our goal is to honour the trust of our neighbourhood communities while ensuring customer centricity remains at the heart of our care.”

The initiative has been widely praised for showing how collective action can ease financial burdens and transform lives at the grassroots level.

Conclusion

By coming together, residents of Bengaluru have set an example of social responsibility, reinforcing how local communities can drive positive change for those who serve them every day.
