According to reports, some beta testers are receiving access to a new secret code feature for locked chats on Android from Meta-owned WhatsApp.
The list of users’ locked chats may contain a new settings section, according to WABetaInfo, that gives users the ability to conceal the entry point to open locked chats.
To be more precise, the chat list’s entry point for viewing locked chats will vanish once a secret code has been configured. Alternatively, by typing the secret code into the Chats tab’s search bar, users can access these chats,” the report stated.
With this feature, the report mentioned that users gain enhanced privacy by removing the entry point to the locked chats list, others won’t be able to easily identify or access the conversations that are locked. This will ensure that others can’t easily identify or access these secured conversations, effectively preventing accidental or unauthorised entry into sensitive discussions.
With the locked chats list hidden, even if someone gains physical access to a user’s phone, they won’t be able to see your sensitive conversations.
According to the report, concealing the list of locked conversations also aids in preventing exposure because anyone can deduce that there might be some locked conversations. In the meantime, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called “Protect IP Address in Calls” that assists in keeping your location secret from other callers.
The new option hides your IP address from the other party by relaying calls through WhatsApp Servers, ensuring that other parties in the call cannot see your IP and subsequently deduce your general geographical location.
