Bengaluru: Kannada actor Darshan and his staff find themselves in legal trouble after a case was filed against them following a complaint from an advocate who alleged that she was bitten by one of the actor’s dogs.
Incident Overview
The incident occurred near an unoccupied area next to Darshan’s house, with the victim, Amita Jindal, hailing from RR Nagar, claiming that she was attacked by the canines. According to her account, an argument ensued between her and the dogs’ caretaker while she was parking her car on October 28.
Argument Turns Violent
Amita attended a hospital event for World Stroke Day and parked her car near the vacant area. Upon her return, she found the caretaker seated nearby with three dogs. Two of the dogs were tied, while one roamed freely. She requested the caretaker to relocate the dogs to allow her to take out her car. However, this simple request escalated into a heated argument.
The Attack
As the dispute continued, the unrestrained dog leaped on Amita, causing her to fall to the ground. In the ensuing chaos, another dog that had been chained managed to free itself and joined the attack. Amita suffered injuries from being bitten, and her clothes were torn during the incident.
Immediate Medical Care and Complaint
Following the dog attack, Amita managed to escape the scene and promptly sought medical treatment at a hospital. Subsequently, she filed a formal complaint regarding the incident.
Legal Action Taken against Darshan
The police have taken action by filing a case against the actor and an unidentified caretaker under IPC section 289, which pertains to negligent conduct concerning animals. To further investigate the matter, the police plan to issue a notice to Darshan and his household assistant, summoning them for questioning.
