Sandalwood has not produced many woman centric films and the main reason for this has been the box office factor. However, as the times are changing, we are seeing more female centric films releasing and as well as doing well at the box office. Now, it looks like Sheethal Shetty’s “Pathibeku.com” will join the list.
The film is about a middle class girl (played by Sheethal) who is in her late 20s. Her parents are worried as she has rejected almost 60 grooms for various reasons. They try all means, including blackmail, to forcefully get her married. Later, the protagonist decides to take matters into her own hands. How does she overcome all the hurdles? Will she be successful in finding a groom? All these questions are answered in a humorous way.
Sheethal Shetty was the number one news anchor in Kannada television. She was very popular and was also known as the face of her channel. When she was at the peak of her career, she quit to concentrate on other fields. She started her own production house and produced some documentaries. She later made her debut in Sandalwood with the cult classic “Ulidavaru Kandanthe”. Even though her role was small, she impressed everyone. She was also seen in “Kendasampige”. And now with “Pathibeku.com”, she is seen in a full fledged role. Sheethal is quite impressive here, as she carries the whole film on her shoulders. Krishna Adiga and Harini are wonderful as a couple. Arun Gowda does a good job as a rowdy.
Rakesh has directed the film well, however, the second half lags a bit. Hats off to him, however, for doing something different. He surely has a good future. Technically, the film could have been better. Maybe the producers wanted to finish the film within a particular budget, hence there is a lack of production value.
Leaving these small negatives aside, this film is a must watch for all those who want to be entertained and especially for all the would-be-brides.
