“Truly magical- #Messi with his artistry has led Argentina into the sixth World Cup final,” tweeted the former Chairman of GPSC.
A Twitter user wrote, “When he was 10 years old, he asked Messi for a selfie. Today, Julian Alvarez (22) scored two goals for Argentina against Croatia from the Messi assist. And Messi scored a goal on penalty when he got fouled and now enter the Final. What an inspiration!”
“With his 11th #FIFAWorldCup goal yesterday, Messi has now passed Gabriel Batistuta to become Argentina’s leading goal scorer in World Cups. With the finals to play, he will become the most capped player passing Lothar Matthaus’ 25 WC appearances while for Modric, it was his last,” wrote another user.
“So many Croatians were circling Messi, and somehow, he still managed to keep the ball to his feet and to win a foul. That game reminded me of the old Messi we all fell in love with,” wrote a Twitter user.
Argentina had played in a World Cup semi-final five times before this one. It is the sixth time it has reached finals. Argentina last won the World Cup in 1986.
