From August 2 to 15, on the occasion of the 75th Independence celebration in the country, hoisting national flags in every household and even through social media status updation is a new call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign is intended as an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building and instils patriotism among the citizens.

However, analysing the existing Socio, Political and Economic trends of the nation, the emphasis on National Flag or the stress on mandating National Anthem seems to work as a motivational talk, which will have its impact until the resource person leaves the floor.
Post 75 years of Independence, India has developed in several sectors such as Science and Technology, Education, Infrastructure and so on.

At the same time, there exist certain areas in which, the status of the nation post-Independence has either remained still or deteriorated further. Nationalist leaders like Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, Bhagat Sigh, Pandita Ramabai unitedly fought for the cause of the country India, regardless of their faith. India today, is fast moving towards the state of communalism. From the students sitting adjacent on school benches to the parliamentarians responsible for the development of the nation, have more emphasis on the superiority of one’s own religion and so the Har Ghar Tiranga will only emphasise on National flag as an object rather than the idea of strength, peace and prosperity which the flag indicates.

Our country Pre- Independence, had a flourishing economy because of its agricultural and finest handicrafts. Not to forget the famous Peacock throne and Kohinoor too belonged to India. But on the 75th anniversary of Independence, the PhD holders of the nation are witnessed applying for sweepers job indicating the level of the economy. And so, based on the current trends, instead of the flag on the display picture, the picture of an individual with friends of vivid faiths and beliefs will showcase the essence of actual India. The imbibed tolerance and co-existence is the impression the country has left behind.

And so, when the entire world is witnessing the true legacy of the nation, Azad ka Amrit Mahotsav will be successful not with flags flying high but by proving the existing ‘unity in diversity’ and by adhering to the basic principles of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
