Coconut milk is also added to give a distinct coconut flavour and to help in combining the ingredients. The sweet is prepared during the festive seasons. It is served warm or cool as per one’s preference.
This healthy dessert called Haalbai is made using rice flour or ragi. However, both are delicious. Moreover, this is popularly prepared during the festival, especially as it is jaggery-based sweet, it is common in hilly and coastal regions of Karnataka.
Usually, sweets are either loaded with sugar or loaded with high calories and prepared using maida,while they are deep fried. But these kinds of sweets are prepared using rice, jaggery and very little ghee.
