Karwar: Sight of Cobras can make chill run down anybody’s spine. These creatures have intimidated human beings so much that seeing them even on television can be a discomforting sight. But, here in Sirsi lives a little girl who has a hobby that has left people in state of shock.
For two-year-old Akarsha, daughter of Prashanth Hulekal from Chipagi village, her most favourite toys are venomous snakes.
Akarsha has so far caught about 60 snakes including the king cobra, which has the fame of being the most venomous snake on earth.
Akarsha’s love for snakes comes from her background. Her father is a herpetologist and over the last 20 years he has rescued over 12,000 snakes so far. Watching her father handle snakes with such ease, Akarsha too started trying her luck, of course under the supervision of her father’s watchful eyes. At a very tender age, Akarsha has been taught techniques of handling snakes by her father.
Way to go for the father-daughter duo. The little herpetologist in making is surely leaving eye brows raised.
