New Delhi: A police complaint has been filed against Bengal and Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel by a woman who has accused him of engaging in a sexual relationship under a false promise of marriage, along with allegations of assault and criminal intimidation.

The complaint was lodged by the woman and her mother at Mogra Police Station in Hooghly district on Tuesday. Police have confirmed that an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Allegations outlined in complaint

According to the complaint, the woman claimed that she had been in a relationship with Porel for nearly three years. She alleged that their relationship began to deteriorate last year, after which the cricketer reportedly started distancing himself.

The complainant further alleged that Porel had promised to marry her but later refused. She accused him of engaging in a sexual relationship with her under this promise and also levelled charges of assault and criminal intimidation.

Police begin investigation

A police official confirmed that the complaint has been received and that an inquiry is currently underway. Authorities are expected to examine the allegations and gather evidence before taking further action.

Porel denies allegations

Abishek Porel has strongly denied all accusations. Speaking to the media, he described the allegations as false and stated that he has not yet been contacted by the police.

He added that he would respond in detail after the investigation progresses, saying he prefers to wait for the authorities to complete their initial inquiry before commenting further.
