New Delhi: Sakshi Malik has fulfilled a longstanding dream of India to bag a medal at the Olympics.
Her journey from a small place in Rothak to Rio is unbelievable and recently, as a girl from a small town, Malik had recently spoken about her wish to travel by flight. The statement went viral. When Malik could fulfill the longstanding Indian dream, it was India’s turn to do its bit for the superwoman and quick to act was Air India.
On Friday, in a letter addressed to Malik, Managing Director of Air India, Ashwani Lohani, offered her two business class round trips to two destinations of her choice, anywhere in the world.
In the letter, Lohani wrote that “I recently read your statement…and was indeed touched by the same”. Malik became the first Indian to win a medal at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics and is likely to be conferred with country’s highest sporting honour the “Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna”.
