Bengaluru: On going protest against Amnesty International turned violent on Friday became more violent on Friday after a group of ABVP members tried to barge into Amnesty office at Indiranagar, jumping over the barricades.
Soon, the police resorted to lathi charge on the protesters, in which at least 20 agitators sustained injuries.
According to police, hundreds of protesters carried out a protest march from CMH signal to Amnesty office. Citing the possible attack on the Amnesty office, police had stationed more personnel at the site. Meanwhile, ABVP activists staged protest march at various parts of the city.
Tension prevailed after it was alleged that anti-India slogans were head at an event on Kashmir in Bengaluru organised by Amnesty International India Chapter.
