Los Angeles: The retired Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, 41, is no more and the last message sent by the LA Lakers legend, who retired in 2016 was to LA Lakers star LeBron James.

On Saturday, James surpassed Bryant’s career NBA points record of 33,643 during LA Lakers’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Congratulating him for this feat, Bryant sent a message on Sunday. “Continuing to move the game forward. Much respect my brother,” Kobe Bryant had told James. It was his final tweet.

Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others were killed Sunday morning in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, located near Los Angeles, California.

Bryant, a five-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist, is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in history, an iconic figure who became one of the faces of his sport during a glittering two-decade career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Born in Philadelphia, Bryant was only 17 when he was taken as the 13th overall draft pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1996 NBA draft.
