Kolkata Knight Riders, two time IPL champions ahead of IPL 2023 announced a new Head Coach on Wednesday August 17. Domestic crickzet legendary coach Chandrakant Pandit replaced Brendon McCullum as a new Head Coach.

Chandrakant Pandit coached Madhya Pradesh in their maiden Ranji Trophy earlier this year. Pandit is the most decorated domestic coach in India. A 60-year-old, won as many as six Ranji titles for three different teams.

Kolkata Knight Riders replaced Brendon McCullum from a Head Coach position as he is currently the Head Coach of England men’s test team. Pandit won three domestic titles for Mumbai, two titles for Saurashtra and a title with Madhya Pradesh.

KKR finished their 2021 IPL campaign as runners up but failed to continue their consistency in the 2022 IPL campaign. Eoin Morgan was replaced by Indian Star Cricketer Shreyas Iyer as the skipper in the 2022 season and finished in seventh position.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore said he is looking forward to the partnership between captain Shreyas Iyer and the decorated coach.

“We are very excited that Chandu is joining the Knight Riders’ family to lead us through the next phase of our journey. His deep commitment to what he does and his track record of success in domestic cricket, is there for everyone to see. We are looking forward to his partnership with our skipper Shreyas Iyer, which promises to be an exciting one,” he added.
