Kevin Pietersen, the former England cricket captain, has expressed his apprehension following a daylight stabbing incident on a train in London. The attack occurred between Shortlands and Beckenham on a train bound for Victoria on Wednesday. Local authorities have appealed for witnesses to step forward as the victim reportedly sustained “serious injuries.” Pietersen shared a video of the incident on social media platform X, criticizing the state of London, stating, “What on earth is happening in London?!?!?! Once a magnificent city, it’s now a disgraceful place.”

Pietersen also highlighted recent instances of daylight robberies in the capital. Currently, he is in India for his commentary duties in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Having retired from professional cricket in March 2018, Pietersen’s illustrious career includes winning four Ashes series and scoring 8,181 runs in 104 Test matches. He is particularly remembered for his outstanding innings of 158 in the fifth Test against Australia at The Oval in 2005, which played a crucial role in England’s Ashes victory. Pietersen also delivered memorable performances such as his innings of 227 against Australia in Adelaide in 2010 and a brilliant 186 against India in Mumbai in 2012.

Born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, Pietersen made his international debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2004. Despite his prowess in Test cricket, Pietersen’s record of 10 centuries in 137 One Day Internationals (ODIs) is deemed underwhelming considering his ability to dismantle any bowling attack. His highest ODI score of 130 was achieved against Pakistan in 2012.
