Tokyo 2020 Bronze medalist Indian freestyle wrestler successfully defended his Commonwealth Gold in the Birmingham 2022. The wrestler competes in the 65 Kg category and clinched two back to back Gold in the Commonwealth games.
Punia is the only Indian wrestler to win three medals at the world championships. The wrestler won Silver medal in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth games in the 61 Kg category and later shifted to 65 Kg category and won Gold in 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth games. Bajrang crushed the Canadian wrestler Lachlen McNeil to 9-2 in the finals and successfully defended Gold in Birmingham.
Punia is also the defending champion of Asia in the 65 kg category. He has accomplished almost every accolade of wrestling and made the country flag fly high year after year. He is a legend of Indian freestyle wrestling. Punia is the recipient of Arjuna Award, Khel Ratna Award and Padma Shri Award by the Government of India.
