Mangaluru: The concluding ceremony of the marathon, jointly organized by Fr Muller Medical College, St Joseph Engineering College, and Lourdes Central School, in collaboration with SJEC Alumni Association, SJEC Foundation, Diocesan Commission for Health, and We Are Cycling, took place at Father Muller Medical College ground on Sunday, December 3, under the theme ‘Kudla Runs for No Drugs.’
The marathon featured various categories including a fun run, 5K run, 15K run, and cyclotron, all aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle and raising awareness. Winners of the marathon, contributing to the noble cause, were honored with cash prizes, making up a total prize money pool of Rs 3 lakhs.
DCP Law and Order Siddarth Goyal graced the occasion as the chief guest, distributing prizes to the winners. Expressing his pride in being associated with the marathon, Goyal commended the participants for running towards a safer and healthier Mangaluru, sending a powerful message against the challenge of drug abuse.
Father Muller Medical College Administrator, Fr Ajith B Menezes, delivered the vote of thanks during the ceremony.
The event witnessed the presence of Director of St Joseph Engineering College, Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, principal of Lourdes Central School, Fr Robert D’ Souza, dean of Father Muller Medical College, Dr Anthony Sylvan D’Souza, principal of St Joseph Engineering College, Dr Rio D’Souza, SJEC Faculty Vinuthan, and others.
The marathon commenced from St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor (15K Run – open for all), Lourdes Central School (5K Run – age-wise category for men and women), and Fr Muller Medical College campus (Fun Run 2K Run – open for all), with the concluding point at Father Muller Medical College Ground for all categories.
