Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, had his inspiring story brought to the big screen by Sajid Nadiadwala, the head of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film, Chandu Champion, showcases Petkar’s incredible journey, and in a heartwarming turn of events, he was honored with the prestigious Arjuna Lifetime Award 52 years after his remarkable achievement.

Upon receiving the award, an emotional Petkar expressed his gratitude: “I am truly overwhelmed and deeply grateful to receive the Arjuna Lifetime Award. This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective effort and belief of many incredible individuals.” He went on to thank Sajid Nadiadwala for believing in his story and bringing it to life on screen. “His unwavering support has made all the difference,” Petkar added.

He also acknowledged director Kabir Khan for authentically bringing his journey to the big screen and commended Kartik for his perfect portrayal of his life. “This moment is as much theirs as it is mine,” Petkar said, expressing deep appreciation for the entire Chandu Champion team.
